View the model-specific values, conditions and sources

Two shale shaker quotations can cite the same fluid flow and still describe different duties. One may assume a coarser screen, another a different fluid condition, and neither may include the feed arrangement that the buyer expects. A bid-normalization review exposes these differences before commercial ranking makes them expensive to unwind.

Start from the linear-motion shale shaker reference, then create a common enquiry basis. The objective is not to calculate a universal correction factor from a catalogue. It is to identify which proposals answer the same question and which require process clarification.

Establish the shared duty statement

Describe where the returns come from, the fluid system and the expected variability. Include the available density, viscosity and solids information with the sampling context rather than presenting an isolated number as a complete fluid description. Identify the screening objective and how screened fluid and retained solids will be handled downstream.

If these inputs are incomplete, mark them as preliminary. Ask for a budgetary proposal with stated assumptions instead of silently allowing each bidder to choose a favourable basis. A conditional quotation can still be useful if its limits are visible.

The matrix is a desk-review structure. It does not establish that any particular machine meets the buyer's duty, and it is not an operating procedure.

Keep the model and edition attached to the table

The GN equipment catalogue, page 30, has named K-suffix columns with screen count, machine screen area and vibration-motor entries. Keep those entries together with the exact column identity. Do not fill gaps using an older F-suffix brochure or a different deck arrangement.

The official GN shaker page expressly makes actual capacity dependent on screen API designation and mud conditions. That qualification belongs beside the capacity discussion, not hidden behind a general disclaimer. Its motor-option qualification also means a reference motor entry is not necessarily the final offered electrical configuration.

Use these sources to frame questions, not to claim an installation guarantee. Screen area is a whole-machine parameter; conductance and non-blank area belong to an identified panel assembly. The replacement-screen audit handles that separate evidence trail.

Diagnose why bids cannot yet be compared

When one offer looks substantially more capable, first ask what changed in its assumptions. Is the screen designation identical? Is the stated fluid basis comparable? Does the proposal describe the same feed distribution and discharge boundary? Resolve those questions before treating a larger reference figure as better process performance.

When footprints or utilities differ, distinguish a machine substitution from a packaging difference. A control cabinet, feed distributor or access requirement may be excluded rather than technically incompatible. Require the quotation to label those exclusions so the installation team can evaluate them.

Do not respond to uncertainty by writing adjustment instructions into the purchase specification. Motor settings, deck adjustments and operation near equipment limits require manufacturer-approved procedures and competent site review. The procurement task is to obtain a defensible configuration and assessment basis.

Close technical differences before commercial ranking

Build a deviation register with an owner, the unresolved assumption and the evidence needed to decide. Acceptable next steps might include an updated duty proposal, a clarified inclusion list or a review of representative fluid information. Do not demand an order-specific certificate before a supplier can explain its reference offering.

Rank the normalized offers only after the consequential differences are visible. An honest preliminary proposal may remain under consideration with a clear qualification; an unexplained guarantee should not gain an advantage merely because it sounds definite.

Send the duty statement, comparison matrix, site constraints, quantity and destination through the shale shaker RFQ form. Ask bidders to return a marked deviation list so the next review concerns engineering choices rather than differently worded capacity claims.
